‘There Has Been Some Contact…’ Report Reveals Chelsea Are Pursuing Dutch Powerhouse Who Could Be Sold For 35.5M

Dumfries

Chelsea remain in contention to sign Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.

The Italian website claims “there has been some contact” with the Blues regarding the Dutch international, although Graham Potter’s side have not made a formal approach yet.

Dumfries has been regularly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge but, up until now, it was thought that Inter would prefer to keep hold of the player until the summer.

However, the situation has changed somewhat. The Nerazzurri were hoping to receive some money from the sale of Milan Skriniar this month but, with the Slovakian now expected to leave on a free transfer when his contract runs out, funds must be raised from elsewhere.

TMW report that the “starting point” for negotiations to sell Dumfries is €40m (£35.5m), which is substantially below the €50m to €60m figures that have been quoted recently.

It is believed that the main reason for that is Bayern Munich have pulled out of the race for the 26-year-old, leaving Chelsea and potentially Manchester United as the only two suitors.
