The THREE Signings That Chelsea Could Make Before The Transfer Window Shuts

Chelsea are expected to be busy in the transfer market this week. In addition to sealing the signature of Leicester’s Wesley Fofana, manager Thomas Tuchel wants to strengthen his forward line before the window shuts.

It has been a baptism of fire for the club’s new owners, but the arrival of seven new senior players already demonstrates that the likes of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are prepared to back Tuchel in reinforcing his playing squad.

The Blues’ spending will rise above £200m when Fofana’s switch has been finalised, and there could be even more additions on the way.

Press the next page as we list the three players Chelsea may still sign this summer.

1) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Reports in Spain suggest that Chelsea are edging towards agreeing a fee for the former Arsenal striker. Personal terms are believed to have been signed off on a couple of weeks ago, but brinkmanship between the Blues and Barcelona has stalled a move since then.

Tuchel is said to be very keen on reuniting with Aubameyang, a player who he managed during his time at Borussia Dortmund. Negotiations could go down to the final hours with Thursday’s deadline fast approaching.

2) Wilfried Zaha

The Blues are believed to be keen on signing two forwards before the transfer window closes, with Callum Hudson-Odoi having joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan. There was strong interest in Everton’s Anthony Gordon as a potential option to strengthen the frontline.

However, the 21-year-old’s £60m asking price has put Chelsea off from going ahead with a move. Zaha would be a much cheaper option as he has less than twelve months left on his contract at Crystal Palace. A bid for the Ivorian could well be tabled in the coming days.

3) Arsen Zakharyan

Although many fans feel that signing a new first-choice midfielder (such as Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong) should be the club’s primary concern, it doesn’t look like the Blues will be prioritizing this position ahead of the transfer deadline. Instead, it seems as though a move for another promising young talent will be the focus.

A deal for Zakharyan is believed to be in the works. The young Russian has a €15m (£12.7m) release clause but there are certain complications that have to be resolved. There are questions about how Dinamo Moscow will be paid, as well as whether the player could stay out on loan for a year before arriving in London.
