The THIRTEEN Players Who Could Leave Chelsea This Summer As Club Plan Major Clearout

There could be a massive clearout of Chelsea’s first-team squad this summer, according to reports.

Owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are keen to have all of their players on long-term contracts and they could offload anyone who is within the last two years of their current deal.

That means that there are at least thirteen players at Stamford Bridge whose futures at the club are in doubt.

Press the next page as we assess how many of these could be sold at the end of this season.

Kepa Arrizabalaga (Contract Until 2025)

While the Spaniard is the club’s current number one, reports have linked the Blues with a number of other keepers, including Brentford’s David Raya and Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel. It is unlikely, therefore, that his £150,000 a week contract will be renewed.

Verdict: Sale Likely

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Contract Until 2024)

The Gabonese striker has rarely featured in recent months under Potter. Injuries have played their part but he was a signing that was made at the behest of previous manager Thomas Tuchel so his departure looks certain.

Verdict: Sale Expected

Cesar Azpilicueta (Contract Until 2024)

The club captain signed an extension last summer but he had to be persuaded to reject a move to Barcelona. After a difficult season, he may now get his wish to return to Spain.

Verdict: Sale Likely

Ben Chilwell (Contract Until 2025)

The fullback has been Chelsea’s best player in the past few games, but he has been linked with a move to Manchester City. If he can stay fit, though, the club will be determined to tie him down for the long term.

Verdict: Set To Stay

Conor Gallagher (Contract Until 2025)

The midfielder has had a bit-part role since returning from his loan spell at Crystal Palace last summer. As he is a Blue through and through, he would probably like to stay at Stamford Bridge but Chelsea could raise some funds from his sale due to the interest from other Premier League clubs.

Verdict: Sale Likely

Lewis Hall (Contract Until 2025)

Both Tuchel and Potter have shown plenty of faith in the teenager, and the likeliest outcome is that he will sign a new contract before being loaned out to get more first-team experience.

Verdict: Set To Stay

Kai Havertz (Contract Until 2025)

Potter says he has complete trust in Havertz’s abilities and, if he continues to perform like he has done in recent matches, a contract extension is likely to be in the offing.

Verdict: Set To Stay

Mateo Kovacic (Contract Until 2024)

The Croatian is closing in on the final year of his contract and, from the looks of things, no talks over an extension have taken place. At this moment in time, it looks like he will be departing Stamford Bridge.

Verdict: Sale Likely

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Contract Until 2024)

The 27-year-old has looked impressive in a few games this season but he has never managed to establish himself as a regular starter. A fresh start at a new club seems to be on the horizon.

Verdict: Sale Expected

Edouard Mendy (Contract Until 2025)

The Frenchman has returned to training after recovering from a fractured finger. He could well regain his place from Kepa and impress during the final few months of the season. Mendy has, though, rejected an offer to extend his contract as he wants a higher salary, so he may not stay beyond the summer.

Verdict: Sale Likely

Mason Mount (Contract Until 2024)

The 24-year-old is in the same boat as Mendy in terms of being unhappy with the wage being offered to him, but his current deal expires a year earlier, making negotiations all the more urgent. Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Newcastle have all been linked but you do feel that an agreement will be reached with the player eventually. It’s still, however, a hard one to call.

Verdict: 50/50

Christian Pulisic (Contract Until 2024)

Injuries and poor form have meant the American international has never managed to win over Chelsea supporters. There was a brief moment after lockdown in 2020 where he looked unstoppable but, since then, he has flattered to deceive.

Verdict: Sale Expected

Hakim Ziyech (Contract Until 2025)

The Moroccan almost left on loan for Paris Saint-Germain in January, but Potter has selected him pretty regularly since then.

All the signs do suggest, though, that he will still be moved on this summer.

Verdict: Sale Expected
