Winston Bogarde
The Dutchman joined the Blues in the year 2000 from Barcelona, and he signed a four-year contract, worth a reported £40,000 a week, which was a princely sum at the time.
Bogarde made just eleven appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge, but despite his lack of matches, he refused to leave, choosing to pick up his lucrative weekly wage until his departure in 2004.
To rub salt into the wound, the defender even called himself one of the “worst buys in the history of the Premiership.”
