Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva is set to extend his stay with the Blues for another year, according to UOL Esporte journalist Bruno Andrade.
The Brazilian reporter claims that he has heard from sources close to the player that “the deal is imminent” with the defender keen on remaining in English football for a little while longer.
Silva has been in outstanding form so far this season and, despite being 37 years of age, he does not look like he is beginning to feel the pace of the Premier League whatsoever.
There were reports a few months back that Silva was considering returning to Brazil, with his first club, Fluminense, the favourites to seal his signature.
Andrade claims that the Brazilian Serie A side are still interested in having Silva back but it is likely that a move may now only happen when his prospective new deal with Chelsea ends in June 2023.
