The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell Reveals Eduardo Camavinga’s Actual Transfer Stance Amid Chelsea And United Links

Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is in “no rush” to move clubs during the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell.

The reliable journalist claims that the player knows he will be able to talk to clubs in January about a free transfer next year so a switch may not even happen before the end of August.

Chelsea have been linked with Camavinga in recent days, but Whitwell claims Manchester United are the ones who have done the most work, having “explored” whether a deal is possible this summer.

However, the feeling is any transfer would be “complicated” due to the sheer number of teams involved. Rennes, of course, would like to sell up now, as they would lose the chance to get a sizeable transfer fee if the player opts to run down his contract.

The Ligue One side are looking for at least €40m (£34m) from any prospective buyer but, with Camavinga not pushing for a move, there is no guarantee that a deal will be struck.
