The Athletic Claims Up To SIX First Team Players Could Be ‘Highly Motivated To Leave Chelsea This Summer’

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s reluctance to use certain players has raised doubts over their long-term futures at Stamford Bridge, according to The Athletic‘s Liam Twomey.

The website’s Blues correspondent claims Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Saul Niguez, Malang Sarr, and even Trevoh Chalobah could well be “highly motivated to leave Chelsea this summer”.

Lukaku’s unhappiness has been highly publicised, while Christian Pulisic’s father has hinted that his son is not particularly pleased with his lack of game time. Saul will not stay beyond his loan spell, while Sarr hasn’t really shown he is good enough to play for the London club.

Tuchel’s refusal to start Ziyech more often has left some supporters scratching their heads, and the Moroccan would be justified in thinking that he may be better off moving elsewhere.

Chalobah’s situation is even more confusing. Tuchel was the one who made the defender into a regular starter this season and, despite never really letting anyone down, he has struggled for minutes in recent weeks. It seems the futures of all six players mentioned are very much up in the air currently.
