Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Edouard Mendy could be out for two more weeks as he looks to recover from a thigh injury he picked up on international duty.
Kepa Arrizabalaga was named in goal for the 3-3 draw against Southampton on Saturday but made another high profile error. After the match, Lampard said that Mendy is likely to miss more games:
“Mendy is, at the minute, injured and probably will be fit in the next week or two weeks and then that will be the decision for me to make about who plays.”
Supporters on Twitter are very concerned about Mendy’s injury and they have been discussing whether Willy Caballero should be given another chance in goal.
That’s bad. Seeing Kepa in goal scares me.

If Mendy is out for two more weeks as Lampard suggests, it could mean that he misses out on three to four games. He will certainly not be fit for the first Champions League group stage match against Sevilla tomorrow and he would also be a huge doubt for the Manchester United clash on Saturday. There will also be question marks over whether he’ll feature versus Krasnodar or Burnley before the end of the month.
