Testing Times For On Loan Chelsea Stars

Chelsea have an astounding 26 players out on loan this season, with their sole purpose of providing them match experience in order to force their way back into the Chelsea first team squad. Although this policy has been severely criticized by FA Chairman Greg Dyke, Mourinho believes that the youngsters and squad players will develop more with regular match time at other clubs.

The likes of Victor Moses, Gael Kakuta, Marko Marin, Romelu Lukaku, Thibaut Courtois amongst others have all been sent out on loan to gain valuable match experience in order to flourish at Stamford Bridge later on in their careers.

However, Mourinho already has a wealth of quality players at his disposal, and he may find it extremely difficult to try and fit his loan players in the first team squad for next campaign.

A host of former first-team players are already finding it difficult to get a look-in under Mourinho. Juan Mata, Chelsea’s Player of the Season the past two years, has been scarcely used by the Special One, who believes Mata needs to adapt his game to fit his system up until recently when he got back in the manager’s good books..

If the likes of Juan Mata are finding it difficult to get a game under Mourinho, the future of on loan Chelsea players is looking extremely bleak at the moment.

However, one Chelsea player who is determined to make his mark at the Bridge next season is Samba star Lucas Piazon, who is currently plying his trade in the Dutch Eredivisie with Vitesse along with 5 other Blues players.

According to Get West London, Piazon has admitted he will need to have a special season with Vitesse if he has any chance of making a breakthrough in the first team next term.

He said, “The most important thing for me was to find somewhere to play a lot of games. My first hope was to stay in England and get some experience in the Premier League but Chelsea spoke to me and I came out here to see [Vitesse].There are a lot of players from Chelsea and we have a good connection. We all want a future at Chelsea but it depends on us.”

He also admitted the likeliness of spending another season out on loan if he doesn’t perform as per expectations. He said, “We are young and on loan and we have to do something special with our season to get back and stay at the club. We know if we don’t have a good season we will be back out on loan again.”

Along with Piazon, Patrick van Aanholt, Gael Kakuta, Sam Hutchinson, Cristian Cuevas and Christian Atsu are all trying to impress Mourinho by having a good season with Vitesse.

Do you think these Chelsea players have a future at the club?
