Terry Not Coming Out Of Retirement! – Cahill

John Terry hung up his boots for England in an acrimonious fashion after he lost in court over the racism row which involved him and defender Anton Ferdinand. He was found guilty of racially abusing Ferdinand, and Terry immediately called time on his international career. He is now solely concentrated on his commitments at Chelsea.

Following his retirement, England have also lost Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand, who followed Terry and himself retired. The loss of two established center-backs has destabilized the back-four completely for The Three Lions. They have since not shown the same strength and poise in defense. Though England have a plethora of center-halves to choose from, not one have managed to forge a sustained partnership with the other.

The likes of Gary Cahill, Joleon Lescott, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Phil Jagielka and Steven Caulker have all featured for England, however they have all been coming in and going out of the team on regular intervals. This lack of stability is evident, as England have barely managed to keep only two clean sheets, both coming against minnows San Marino.

England face World Cup qualifiers against Moldova on Friday which is followed by a trip to Ukraine. As they prepare for these crunch clashes, there were rumors circulating in the British press that England manager Roy Hodgson might call on his old charge Terry to lead the defense on Friday. Cahill, who plays alongside Terry for Chelsea, has stepped in and has shot down these claims straight away.

When he was asked if Terry’s decision to quit was final, the Daily Mail reported him as saying, “That decision has been made. He has moved on now,”

“I think that’s done and dusted. That decision has been made and that’s all history now. We know how well he did for his country and that’s that.”

With Cahill sounding pretty confident on the future of this new story, do you think that there is still any possibility of us seeing Terry return to the whites of England? Or has he already made up his mind for good?
