John Terry insisted Chelsea will defeat Arsenal and claim first place in the Premier League just before Christmas. With the game between the two only 2 days away, both teams have a lot to think about. Arsenal come after two important losses one of which was pretty harsh. City destroyed the Gunners and managed to score 6 times against Wenger’s side who looked helpless after 30 minutes of play. Chelsea, even though they won their last two games, revealed they have major problems with both offensive and defensive phases. Torres, Eto’o and Demba Ba’s goal scoring records reveals their lack of efficiency. Since the season began they scored less goals put together than Aguero or Suarez. If you keep in mind that Suarez missed out on the first 5 fixtures of the Premier League you can get a pretty good idea of how inefficient Chelsea’s strikers are compared to the other teams who are fighting for the title.
When it comes to the Blue’s defense, Mourinho still has trouble deciding on who he should pair up. Cahill, Luiz and Terry have lacked consistency and had fluctuating performances. Azpilicueta is also played out of position because the lack of options as far as the left-back position goes. Even so, Chelsea are still 2nd with only two points between them and Arsenal but now Man City and Liverpool lead the league.
According to Metro, Terry is certain his team will take first place after the game against Arsenal. The English international also said the Blues have not been playing as well as they can in order to save their energy for this particular game which can help them overtake the Gunners.
