Tearful Cole On Verge Of Chelsea Exit

The 33-year-old Ashley Cole has yet to be offered a new deal with his contract set to expire at the end of the season. He lost his place in the side to Cesar Azpilicueta this season, which does not help his cause of earning a new deal at the Bridge.

The England international was visibly emotional and could not contain his feelings as he waved goodbye to the Chelsea supporters on Sunday after their last home game against Norwich, possibly because he has played his last game for the club at Stamford Bridge. He was also caught on camera embracing Frank Lampard, who is also out of contract at the end of the season.

The former Arsenal defender has attracted attention from Spanish giants Real Madrid and there has also been interest emanating from MLS for his services. However, his first choice would be to stay at Chelsea where he has won the Premier League, 4 FA Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League in eight seasons.

There might still be hope for the full-back with Mourinho stating that the futures of Cole, Lampard and Terry are yet to be decided.

According to the Daily Mail, he said, “They are with the club on their future. Now it’s time to wait a little bit. The summer is a long summer for us. For the players involved in the World Cup it’s a different story, but for us, as a club, it’s a long time to be calm and to sit and to discuss and to analyse options and the market and possibilities.”
