Stuttgart Capture Chelsea Midfielder On Loan

The Spain youth international, Oriol Romeu joined the Blues in 2011 from Barcelona in a deal worth around €5 million. Big things were expected of the defensive midfielder especially since he was signed from the Nou Camp.

After initially impressing and making 16 league appearances in the 2011-12 season, Romeu was loaned out by Mourinho to Valencia last season in order to continue his development.

Although he only made a handful of appearances last season in Spain, Mourinho offered the defensive enforcer a new three-year contract which Romeu gleefully signed. Many Chelsea fans believed that he would be part of the squad this season but Mourinho has decided otherwise.

The former Barcelona player will spend another season on loan, this time at German outfit Stuttgart. A statement in Metro states: “Oriol Romeu has today [Monday] joined Stuttgart on a season-long loan. The midfielder, 22, who recently signed a three-year contract at Stamford Bridge, heads to the German top flight.”

So it seems Oriol Romeu is in the long-term plans of Chelsea so we can expect to him in a Blue shirt some time in the near future.
