With Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount having now reached the 100 appearance mark for the first team, it is interesting to see how he compares with club legend Frank Lampard.
Although the two are not that similar in terms of playing style, they do take up similar positions on the pitch so it is fair to contrast the starts they made at Stamford Bridge.
Going by the stats used by Transfermarkt, Mount does compare favourably to Lampard, scoring 16 goals and providing 13 assists in 100 games, while his former manager and mentor only managed 15 goals and seven assists.
Of course, there is a long way to go before Mount gets close to the success that Lampard achieved during his 13 years with the Blues. As well as becoming the club’s all-time leading goalscorer, he picked up 13 major trophies, including three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League.
Mount is already close to a Champions League final of his own, though, and there is no telling what he will go on to do in the coming years.
