Spurs Line Up Sensational Swoop For Chelsea Striker

Patrick Bamford is considered as the next best English striker ever since he switched to Stamford Bridge from Nottingham Forest in 2012. Although he is yet to get a taste of Premier League action for the Blues, he has hugely impressed in loan spells at lower league clubs.

He scored 21 goals in 48 appearances for League One outfit MK Dons in the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. The 20-year-old moved to Premier League hopefuls Derby County for the remained of the season, and Bamford has lit up the Championship with five goals in just seven appearances.

Bamford is due to return to Chelsea at the end of the season but with the Blues lining up a summer move for a big name striker, the England youth internationals knows that first-team opportunities will be hard to come by next season.

According to Metro, Spurs manager Tim Sherwood is monitoring the striker’s situation at Chelsea with a view to a summer bid. The report suggests that Bamford is one of the key transfer targets for Spurs as they look to reinforce their striking department.

With Defoe sold, and Soldado misfiring, Sherwood is ready to throw the Chelsea forward straight into the first-team at Spurs next season. Bamford may not be able to resist the temptation of testing himself in the Premier League but Chelsea may be unwilling to do business with Spurs since Mourinho rates him very highly.
