Spanish Move Beckons For Torres?

According to the Daily Mail, Fernando Torres is linked with a summer move back to Atletico Madrid as his barren spell at Chelsea continues to jeopardise his chances of making the squad for the FIFA World Cup.

Torres’ career began at Atletico in 1995, when he joined the club as a youth player. After six years of development, he was offered a professional contract by the club, and he went on to play 214 games for the outfit. These games also included financially hard spells for the club when he took the responsibility of being the captain at the age of 19. Liverpool signed him in 2007, and Torres displayed blistering form, scoring 65 goals in 102 appearances. However, his move to Chelsea in 2011 brought the downswing in his fortunes, as the striker struggled to score in all competitions. In 101 appearances, Torres has scored a mere 19 Barclays Premier League goals, seemingly a pretty poor return for a £50 million acquisition.

A move back to Spain could reignite Torres’ career, and help the former Liverpool striker make it back to top form.
