Six Chelsea Goalkeeper Targets: Ranked Based On Their Save Percentage This Season

It is no secret that Chelsea are keen on signing a new number one goalkeeper. Manager Frank Lampard made his feelings known about Kepa Arrizabalaga after dropping him for five consecutive games in February.

The Spanish international was later reinstated to the team but his performances this campaign have not been befitting of a Premier League keeper.

In all competitions this season, Kepa has a save percentage of just 62.6%, and that goes down even further if we only look at league games.

As a consequence, Chelsea have been linked with bids for a number of goalkeepers in recent weeks. Press the next page as we rank six of them based on their save percentages for their clubs this campaign.

6 – Jordan Pickford (88 saves and 139 shots faced – 63.3%)

The most recent to be associated with a switch to Stamford Bridge, the England international has had a very poor season for Everton, and it would be a surprise if the Blues have taken an interest in him.

Pickford may only be 26 years of age but his performances have been going in the wrong direction in recent years.

5 – Nick Pope (94 saves and 134 shots faced – 70.1%)

Flavour of the month among some pundits who think he should replace Pickford as England’s number one, the 28-year-old has had a decent season.

However, it must be said that Pope has had to face a significant number of shots with the Clarets struggling defensively and that inevitably means he will be making more saves as well.

4 – Andre Onana (91 saves and 128 shots faced – 71.1%)

The Cameroon international has been hailed as a sweeper-keeper, with many seeing him as a good fit for Frank Lampard’s style of play.

However, there have been question marks over Onana’s shot-stopping ability. His save percentage has been pretty decent by all accounts this campaign.

3 – Gianluigi Donnarumma (85 saves and 118 shots faced – 72%)

Italy’s number one may be sold if AC Milan are looking to balance the books, and the 21-year-old could well be a potential target for the Blues.

Donnarumma has struggled for form in previous seasons but the 6ft 5 shot-stopper is very much back to his best this year.

2 – Juan Musso (102 saves and 140 shots faced – 72.9%)

This link came out of left field when he was first mentioned back in February, but there is a lot that does make sense about the transfer.

Musso is an Argentinian international, he is available relatively cheaply, and his performances for Udinese have been of a very high-quality this season.

1 – Dean Henderson (77 saves and 101 shots faced – 76.2%)

The Manchester United goalkeeper has had a superb campaign on loan at Sheffield United, and that is borne out in his save percentage.

Henderson would be a prime candidate if he wasn’t already at United, and the Red Devils will likely turn down any offers from rivals for the 23-year-old.
