Signing these two top-class Chelsea targets would end club’s woes

Chelsea’s spectacular Premier League campaign last season caught the attention of European football, with Antonio Conte leading a revolution at Stamford Bridge, but the Blues have seen things hit the rocks in recent weeks.

Speculation in the media suggests that Antonio Conte is unhappy with Chelsea’s recruitment policy this summer as he feels he is not being handed the financial help he needs to capture top-targets in the market, amidst suggestion that Chelsea need to sell before they buy.

The likes of Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa have been linked with high-profile exits from Stamford Bridge this summer and their departures would leave the Blues with huge holes in a squad that already lacks significant depth.

Chelsea were fortunate not to have their side stretched last season due to European involvement or injury problems but that situation will be completely different next season, as the Blues return to the Champions League and are likely to suffer significant injuries with two games a week.

Losing big players certainly wouldn’t send the right message, and could make the cracks appearing at Stamford Bridge even more severe, but the Blues are being linked to top-class additions; with The Guardian stating Conte’s side are pushing towards a significant £95m double-deal.

£40m is reportedly being spent on Monaco ace Tiemoue Bakayoko, who’d add strength to their midfield alongside his French compatriot N’Golo Kante, whilst a further £55m will be invested into Juventus full-back Alex Sandro.

The Brazilian would be a significant upgrade on current left wing-back Marcos Alonso and would crucially add depth to the flanks, whilst Cesar Azpilicueta would provide an alternative option on the other side to Nigerian ace Victor Moses.

Chelsea’s attempts to appease their frustrated manager mean that the Blues are fighting tooth and nail to seek these two top-class additions and the arrival of Bakayoko could make room for either Fabregas or Matic to leave Stamford Bridge.

Securing Conte’s long-term future is crucial to Chelsea’s rise and the current situation regarding transfers is not a safe situation for the Blues, with Conte yet to sign a contract extension that has been on the table since the end of the season.

For the Blues to move forward, these two significant signings need to be made to push the Blues forward in their journey- especially as rivals like Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City will spend heavily this summer.
