Should Terry Get A New Deal Like Ivanovic?

One of the most debated Chelsea related news topics in recent times is the news that John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic could be leaving Chelsea this summer. Terry’s contract expires at the end of the current season and he himself has announced he and the club could not reach an agreement hence he will be leaving once the season end.

Branislav Ivanovic on the other hand signed a new one year contract in January this year but there have been numerous rumours of Italian interest in him which has led to speculation that the club could sell him in the summer.

Both John Terry and Ivanovic are no doubt quality players but let’s face it, at both 35 and 32-year-old respectively, they are no longer young but that’s not to discount their experience in the game. Both players have been playing for Chelsea for at least 10 years and are super experienced.

Terry reportedly wants to agree a contract but Chelsea are not yet willing to complete a deal which is quite understandable. At 35, he could lose form or get injured despite the fact that he is looks good at the moment – it will be interesting to see if JT gets a one year or two year deal, surely the former is the most likely and probably will be announced once Conte is ensconced.

His experience in the game will be helpful to the Blues’ young players. With Kurt Zouma at the club and one of Marquinhos, Manolas or John Stones reportedly coming in, Chelsea would need senior players such as Ivanovic and Terry to mentor them hence the club will probably do all they can to retain both players.
