Should Sneijder Join Chelsea?

The 29-year-old Wesley Sneijder quit one of the top five leagues in Europe earlier this year in order to join Galatasaray, who ply their trade in the Turkish league. The former Inter Milan playmaker started having disputes regarding his wages with his old club last year, and it reached boiling point soon after which resulted in Sneijder deciding to quit Serie A in favour of Galatasaray in January 2013.

Sneijder has been out of the limelight due to his move to Turkey with Gala, where he has scored a modest 4 league goals in 17 appearances. Prior to his move to the Super Lig, the Dutchman won the historic treble with Milan under Jose Mourinho, who guided the club to success in the Serie A, Coppa Italia and the Champions League in 2010.

The former Real Madrid manager is back at Stamford Bridge for a second stint with the Blues, and he has already stamped his authority on the squad with a host of transfer activity in the summer.

Despite having riches of talent in the midfield area, the Blues have been linked with the Netherlands international with Mourinho keen to reunite with his star player from Inter Milan. Chelsea are reportedly set to bid for Sneijder in the January transfer window.

According to ESPN, Sneijder’s Netherlands coach Van Gaal believes the classy midfielder should join Chelsea in the January transfer window and reunite with his former boss. Van Gaal is of the opinion that Mourinho can get the best out of Sneijder, which can only improve Netherlands’ chances at Brazil in next year’s World Cup.

He said, “I know Chelsea and Jose Mourinho want Sneijder. In my opinion, if possible Sneijder should leave Galatasaray and join Chelsea. Playing under Mourinho again would improve his performances and help him regain his form for the national team.”

Do you think Sneijder should quit Galatasaray and join the Barclays Premier League with Chelsea in the upcoming window?
