Should Neymar Choose Chelsea Over Barca?

Brazilian 21-year-old, Neymar, is one of the hottest prospects in world football and has catapulted himself into stardom with his amazing displays. He has continuously been linked with a move away from Santos, in favour of a top European club.

Chelsea have been monitoring the prolific frontman for quite some time now, and Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also tipped to bid for his services in the summer.

However, Barca and Chelsea are the favourites to land the Brazilian, with his Brazil teammates recommending a move to their respective clubs. Chelsea midfielder Oscar has urged his ‘good friend’ to join the Blues, whereas Dani Alves of Barcelona has claimed that a deal to bring Neymar to Nou Camp has already been agreed.

According to Metro, former Gunners and Barcelona defender Van Bronckhorst has urged the talented striker to join Barcelona instead of Chelsea. He believes that the striker needs to experience European football prior to the 2014 World Cup, and playing alongside Messi at Barca would benefit him.

However, given Barca’s star-studded line-up, would he be guaranteed first-team football? Alexis Sanchez immediately comes to mind as a striker with high potential, whose form has suffered from a lack of playing time.

Neymar would surely need a guarantee of playing time ahead of the World Cup and one club that could uphold his request would be Chelsea, who are desperately looking to bolster their attacking options.

Torres is far from his best and is struggling to recapture his Liverpool form. Their other senior striker, Demba Ba, hasn’t impressed enough to merit a regular starting role. With the club keen to splash the cash on a young and hungry forward, a move to Chelsea for the Brazil superstar makes perfect sense. They also have the Brazilian contingent of Oscar, David Luiz and Ramires to help him settle in London.

Neymar is sure to move sooner or later, so should he choose the reigning European Champions or the team that many view as the best team in the world thesedays?
