Should Chelsea Swap Mikel For Roma Star

John Obi Mikel has been linked to a move on several occasions this season. The 28 year old who has made fewer appearances over the past years is out of contract in 2017 and could very well follow the footsteps of Essien who parted ways with the Blues after failing to be Mourinho’s number one pick. According to the Daily Star, an unexpected but quite exciting swap might allow Mikel to leave for Italy where Roma might just consider selling Radja Nainggolan. The 27 year old Belgium international has been one of Roma’s best players over the past year has publicly expressed his love for Premier League football and especially for the games in which Chelsea and Tottenham are featured.

Chelsea have a good chance of signing the midfielder who is very close with fellow compatriots Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois. Rumors that Toby Alderweireld might be Mourinho’s next transfer would also weigh in heavily if The Blues do decide to push for a swap.

The team would look amazing though with a midfield section built with Matic, Nainggolan and Fabregas. They would basically cover the entire pitch and could have a massive impact on the way Chelsea pressure the opponents. With Matic going back to help the defense, Nainggolan securing the midfield in both the defense and offense and with Fabregas providing assists up front, players like Hazard and Costa could really focus on scoring. Even though a bit unexpected, this transfer could do a lot of good and improve Chelsea’s game considerably for next season.
