Should Chelsea Go After These PSG Stars?

Should Chelsea Go After These PSG Stars?

Chelsea is well-known for their buying habits when it comes to top-notch players. The club spends big when it is serious about acquiring a player and if a manager is convinced there is a need for improvement. While Chelsea are going well right now, Conte has hinted towards the fact that he might need some additional transfers aside from those that went down in the summer. The Italian boss might be in luck as PSG’s Marco Veratti looks ready to leave Paris. Even though the Italian midfielder signed an extension this August, recent developments in his relationship with the club and with the French press have determined his agent to express his player’s disappointment and possible desire to leave France.

Chelsea could take advantage of Veratti’s situation who is not happy on the pitch either. Unai Emery is not giving the midfielder his desired role which under Conte would not happen as the current formation at Stamford Bridge could definitely use a playmaker such as the 23-year-old. What is even more interesting is that Veratti would play a similar role to that of Fabregas who is currently injured and also not in the best of terms with Conte. Swapping him with PSG’s midfielder could be a win for both sides. There are a lot of reasons why Veratti should move to Stamford Bridge. He fits Conte’s profile as he is quite the hard worker (similar to Kante), he is creative, has excellent tactical awareness and he is young. Having him next to or in front of Kante would be great to watch.

Interestingly enough, reportedly Veratti is not the only PSG man Chelsea are interested in signing. According to Metro, Javier Pastore may also represent a target for Conte. The thing with the Argentine midfielder is that, although immensely talented, he is one difficult guy to manage. A couple of years ago he even considered ending his career just because he did not feel happy he was mostly a substitute. He is good but possibly not good enough yet to bump Oscar, Willian or Moses out of the team. If he does accept the idea of fighting for a first team place and being used as a substitute, he might be an interesting player to have around. Time will tell if either of these two rumoured transfers are completed.
