Chelsea will be looking to overhaul their frontline this summer, if and when the club’s ownership situation is resolved.
One of the players who was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge before the sanctions hit was Ousmane Dembele. The French World Cup winner is out of contract this summer and could be set to leave Barcelona.
Dembele has previously praised Thomas Tuchel following their time working together at Dortmund so it does stand to reason that the Blues manager would be keen on recruiting the winger on a free transfer. Fans on Twitter have been debating whether it would be the right move:
Signing dembele should be a must

Unreal performance after his injury this season.

Why want a player that might not play up to 15 game a season?

Scored one goal this year

I think Dembele can be a better winger than Pulisic, so yes for free

When he comes and starts 5 games a season everyone will start crying and saying why did we sign him

We should have done our best in getting him this past January.
It is already obvious we would let some attackers go

There is no doubt that Dembele’s poor fitness record would be a major concern. He has a long history of hamstring injuries and, combined with his salary demands, it would be a major risk signing him.
As some supporters mention as well, Dembele isn’t known for scoring goals. He has been weighing in with a lot of assists (11 this season), but he has only two goals to his name. Considering Chelsea’s issue is converting chances, perhaps they should look at alternatives.
