Shearer hails Morata impact

Premier League all-time top scorer, England international, Newcastle United and Blackburn legend – the list could go on in order to introduce Alan Shearer. The former forward turned pundit is an all-round hero to many, and his latest words of praise towards Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata will be a nice touch for Blues fans.

Shearer will forever be remembered as one of the best strikers to have ever braced the game of football, and was once the most expensive player in the world.

Morata, who is the most expensive player Chelsea have ever signed, is well on his way to producing the kind of form Shearer once provided – with the Spaniard already scoring 7 goals in his first 8 Blues appearances. His arrival this summer for £70m+ raised a lot of eyebrows, but so far the former Real Madrid striker is helping us all to forget the departing Diego Costa – something Shearer has hailed.

“When foreign players come into our league, there’s always a question mark against them,” Shearer told Coral.

“Will they settle? Will they be able to handle the physical side? Will they be able to handle the pace of the game? ‘Cause it’s very different in the Premier League.”

“I know he’s got an injury now but, up until last weekend, he’s had an excellent start.”

“He’s looked strong, scored goals both with his head [and feet].”

“There hasn’t been that much talk about Chelsea missing Diego Costa. And that will tell you how well Morata’s done.”

“If he had come in and been poor, all the talk would have been about Costa. It’s just gone pretty quiet about Costa. That tells you how well Morata has done.”
