Sevilla Confirm Interest In Morata With Sporting Director Revealing Chelsea Star Is Keen On January Switch

Sevilla sporting director Joaquin Caparros has confirmed that the Spanish club are trying to sign Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata.

Reports in Spain have indicated in recent days that the La Liga side are looking to secure the 26-year-old on loan for the rest of the season, with the player’s agent Juanma Lopez having travelled to Spain for talks.

However, Caparros says any deal for Morata is likely to be complex:

“We are interested in Morata but it is a very, very complicated operation. The player may want to come here over other options but the negotiations with Chelsea will be very complicated.”

It seems that Chelsea are looking to sign another forward before allowing the Spanish international to leave. There has been a great deal of speculation over a swap deal involving Morata for AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain, but that transfer may now not involve the Spaniard.

Spanish media have reported that the Blues would be willing to take on the Rossoneri’s €40m purchase option for Higuain, who is currently on loan from Juventus, without Morata moving in the other direction.

Both deals are looking complicated and will seemingly take a while to be worked out.
