Serie A Side Lining Up Potential 18 Month Loan Deal For Unsettled Chelsea Defender

Roma are interested in signing Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen, according to reports in Italy.

The Danish international has already expressed his frustration in recent days at the lack of first-team opportunities under manager Maurizio Sarri. And now it seems that a move to Serie A could be a possibility.

Chelsea are believed to have ruled out a permanent sale, and a loan deal in the January transfer window is more likely. Roma could offer to take on the 22-year-old for as long as 18 months.

Whether Sarri and the club would sanction such a deal, it remains to be seen. Gary Cahill’s contract expires in the summer, and the 32-year-old has indicated himself that he may consider leaving when the transfer window opens.

The Blues would not want to be light at the back if either Antonio Rudiger or David Luiz are sidelined for long spells. With that being the case, it’s likely another centre-half would have to be signed if they did choose to let Christensen leave.
