Serie A Giants ‘Serious’ About Signing Chelsea Outcast In January

Juventus are “serious” about signing Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Italian international has only made four appearances in all competitions for the Blues this season and it is believed a return to Italy in the New Year is very likely, unless he begins to get more game time under manager Frank Lampard.

Juve are currently not in a position financially to sign Emerson, though, and Calciomercato claim the Serie A champions are looking to offload two players in order to make room for the fullback.

Sami Khedira, whose contract expires at the end of the season, could be let go to free up the wage bill, while winger Federico Bernardeschi may be sold in order to raise more funds.

With Ben Chilwell being Chelsea’s first-choice fullback, the prospect of Emerson getting more game time is low and, although it seems Lampard does now favour him ahead of Marcos Alonso, a departure in January does look to be on the cards.
