Seaman Would Back Arsenal Legend Wenger To Take Over At Chelsea

Former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has said that Arsene Wenger would be an excellent choice for Chelsea if the club sack manager Maurizio Sarri.

The Frenchman left the Emirates last summer after 22 years in the job but has stated he remains keen to return to management.

Seaman says it would be unlikely that Wenger would be considered for the role but he would like to see the 69-year-old back in the Premier League:

“It looks like there could be a vacancy at Chelsea quite soon, depending on their next three games which are three big games for Chelsea.”

“He’d be great there, I think. He’d be great anywhere, he’s a fantastic manager. I would love to see him back, but I don’t think it would happen.”

The pressure on Sarri won’t be eased even if they progress through to the last 16 of the Europa League against Malmo tomorrow evening. His future likely hinges on the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Blues head coach’s job is in serious jeopardy with many bookmakers making him the firm favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

Managers such as Zinedine Zidane, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri and Frank Lampard have all been named as potential candidates if the London club parts ways with Sarri.
