Salah Seals Chelsea Move And Other Blues Transfer News

The Daily Star is reporting that Salah’s move to Chelsea has been agreed after the London outfit confirmed it had reached an agreement with Manchester United for the transfer of Spaniard Juan Mata for £37.1 million.

The 25-year-old was grateful to be allowed to play regular football at the Theatre of Dreams and penned a departing letter to the Blues faithful. Mata has reportedly signed a contract worth £150,000-a-week which expires in 2018.

Chelsea have also announced that midfielder Michael Essien will join AC Milan on a permanent basis on a free transfer. Also, Kevin De Buryne has left Stamford Bridge in this transfer window after agreeing a move to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.

The sale of Mata, De Bruyne and Essien has opened up some space in the Chelsea midfield which is now going to be filled by Salah, with Basel already agreeing a deal with the Blues. The 21-year-old will follow Nemanja Matic into Stamford Bridge, who agreed to re-join the club from Benfica in a £21 million deal.

Liverpool were initially talking with Salah’s representatives before Chelsea moved in and outbid them to secure the playmaker’s services. Despite Brendan Rodgers not wanting to give up on Salah, the Egyptian snubbed Liverpool in favour of Chelsea.
