Rumoured Diego Costa replacement can find a new lease of life at Chelsea

Diego Costa has had another top scoring season at Chelsea, however, it may well be his last in the Premier League after links with China in the January market seemed to unsettle the Spaniard, who has never really been a huge fan of the English game, within which he feels a constant villain.

The Spaniard, who has bagged 17 Premier League goals so far this season, only three of which have come since the links with a lucrative move east, looks the most likely of Antonio Conte’s settled first team to be on his way from Stamford Bridge this summer.

The former Atletico Madrid man has been a fantastic servant to the west Londoners with 49 top flight goals to his name as the Blues bear down on their second Premier League crown in three years – despite the recent slip ups against both Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

Regardless of his links away, as well as the supposed training ground bust-up with Conte and his staff, Costa has remained a consummate professional this season and, whilst the goals aren’t coming at the moment, you would be foolish to think he won’t grab his half century before the season is out.

His future is not in stone, fans in west London would more than welcome his staying past this summer, however, alternatives are now being sought by those in power at the Bridge.

One name which is reportedly top of that list is Real Madrid and Spain striker, Alvaro Morata, who seems hell bent on leaving the Spanish capital, having been handed few chances by Galacticos boss Zinedine Zidane, after the Frenchman triggered a buy-back clause to bring the 24-year-old back to the Bernabeu from Juventus last summer.

With that in mind, it seems an easy deal for Conte to get over the line, and one which could pay huge dividends in the years to come.

Morata may not have the most alarming goalscoring record, 12 this season and 15 in his time with the Old Lady in Italy, however, the forward was really finding his form with both club and country before the Spanish giants elected to bring him back to a less physical league and sit him on the bench.

The Spain international, who bagged three goals at last summer’s European Championships, is not too dissimilar to Costa in style, both are imperious and powerful in their play – although Costa has become the master of using such talents to rile up his opponents and strike fear into any back four before a ball has been kicked.

Morata looks to be a perfect fit with Conte in west London, and whilst Costa is almost a striker out in his own category, perhaps a season together – or even just a few weeks should the Blues hitman decide to move on – could send Morata back on his way to the top.
