Romano Reveals “New Round Of Talks” As Chelsea Step Up Efforts To Appoint 35 Year Old Manager

Chelsea are expected to hold a “new round of talks” with Julian Nagelsmann, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The 35-year-old is said to be keen on speaking with the Blues as the London club consider a new permanent head coach and Romano says the German remains the frontrunner:

“From what I understand, also in the last few days, the last few hours Julian Nagelsmann remains 100% open to speaking to Chelsea. There will be a new round of talks. So Nagelsmann remains the favourite candidate, from what I understand, to get the Chelsea job.”

Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in Nagelsmann but Chelsea are believed to be in the driving seat due to Christopher Vivell’s relationship with the German.

The Blues’ technical director worked with Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig and it is thought that the pair get along well.

Vivell is said to be the one pushing for Nagelsmann, while the club’s co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdadm Eghbali are reportedly keener on appointing a more experienced manager such as Luis Enrique.

At the moment, nothing has been decided upon, with the club having given themselves time by handing Frank Lampard the reins until the end of the season.
