Romano Reveals Medical “Planned” For Friday Ahead Of 23 Year Old Defender’s Transfer

AC Milan have “planned” for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori to have has medical on Friday before he finalises his loan move to Italy, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian journalist says the Rossoneri are close to signing the 23-year-old on a temporary basis until the end of the season, but they do have the option to buy the England international in the summer for €30m (£26.5m):

The decision to include a purchase option in Tomori’s loan deal has proved controversial. Blues boss Frank Lampard had recently stated that the centre-back’s long term future was at Stamford Bridge.

However, the player will effectively become an AC Milan if he proves himself in Italy and the Serie A club are willing to pay the agreed fee when his loan deal expires in June.

It is not the way that many fans had anticipated Tomori’s career going at Chelsea but the fact that he has barely featured this season shows that Lampard doesn’t feel he is good enough for the first team.
