Chelsea are not in advanced talks to sign Palmeiras midfielder Gabriel Menino, according to the Guardian reporter Fabrizio Romano.
Sources in Spain and Brazil have claimed in recent days that the Blues could snap up the 20-year-old for around €15m (£12.7m) but Romano says the London club are only scouting the player:
There’s nothing done or agreed for Gabriel Menino from Palmeiras to Chelsea. The Brazilian midfielder has been scouted but there’s nothing advanced as of today.
Also Atlético have not opened any talk to sign him. Many clubs interested, good talent but nothing serious yet. ? #CFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) April 4, 2021
Menino has been attracting a lot of interest in recent weeks with Tottenham, Manchester City, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Juventus having all been mentioned as possible destinations.
The Brazilian is certainly one to keep an eye on. He’s a utility man who can play in a number of different positions, including right-back, as a holding midfield player, as an attacking midfielder as well as a winger.
Chelsea’s focus for the summer, though, appears to be on strengthening up front, with both Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero believed to be on the club’s shortlist of targets.
