Romano Provides New Update On Chelsea’s Bid To Sign Bosnian Playmaker

Chelsea have yet to come to an agreement with Juventus over a swap deal involving Jorginho and Miralem Pjanic, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian reporter, writing in his regular column for Calciomercato.com, says that while Jorginho is a priority signing for Juve boss Maurizio Sarri, there is no deal in place for Pjanic to make the move to Stamford Bridge:

“In Sarri’s ideas, Jorginho is in first place. But at the moment there is no agreement with PSG or Chelsea for Pjanic (which would be included in the operations).”

Reports in Spain have claimed that Pjanic is determined to make the move to Barcelona so the likelihood of the Bosnian moving to London and Jorginho moving in the other direction is low.

There have also been question marks over whether Chelsea would be interested in Pjanic anyway, considering his age (he is 30) and the fact that the Blues are well catered for deep-lying playmakers, with the likes of Mateo Kovacic, Billy Gilmour and Ethan Ampadu all able to play that role.

Even so, it doesn’t appear it will stop Juventus in their attempts to sign Jorginho this summer.
