Romano Makes 26M Valuation Claim As Chelsea Eye Reece James Alternative

Chelsea will need to pay “more than” €30m (£26m) if they want to land Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries in January, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist claims that the Dutch international was on the Blues’ radar in the summer but, if they decide to revive their interest in the player, they will have to make a sizeable offer to get him:

“Denzel Dumfries always been one of the players appreciated by Chelsea; Dumfries was in the list in the summer alongside Kyle Walker-Peters but he decided to stay at Inter. Still, I think it’s not going to be easy to get a deal done in January, Inter want more than €30m for him.”

Manager Graham Potter does lack options on the right flank with Reece James sidelined with a knee injury and, while the 22-year-old should be available again after the World Cup, he still needs cover.

Dumfries would be a good fit, considering he is a natural wingback. He has played 19 games in that position this season alone, having scored one goal and contributed three assists so far

The 26-year-old is also expected to be in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup, which is set to be announced on Friday.
