Romano Confirms “Top Coach” Is Being Considered As Chelsea Contemplate Potter’s Future

Nagelsmann

Ex-Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann will be a contender for the Chelsea manager’s job if the Blues decide to part ways with Graham Potter, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist says the London club regard Nagelsmann as a “future top coach” and he could be in the frame if there is a change in the dugout:

“Julian Nagelsmann is a manager that [the] Chelsea board always appreciated, he’s considered a future top coach. Pressure is growing again on Graham Potter after Aston Villa game, not because of Nagelsmann available but because [the] Chelsea board expect different results.”

Chelsea’s awful home defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday was the final straw for most supporters, and it appears that the club’s board are now seriously contemplating a managerial change.

Considering the amount it cost the Blues in compensation to bring Potter and his team to Stamford Bridge, as well as the fact that they were given long-term contracts, his appointment is looking like a very costly mistake by co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

In terms of Nagelsmann, the 35-year-old is also reportedly on Tottenam’s radar but it is believed his preference would be the Chelsea job.
