Romano Confirms That Chelsea Have Missed Out On Chance To Sign Long Term Target For 38M

Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni’s asking price has increased, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Frenchman was first linked with Chelsea almost a year ago and, while Romano claims that the Blues are still interested, his valuation is now much higher than €40m (£34m) to €45m (£38m):

Tchoaumeni’s profile has risen significantly over the past six months, having made his debut for France’s senior side back in September and winning seven caps since then.

Other teams, such as Liverpool and Manchester United, have also been mentioned as potential suitors, which has undoubtedly persuaded Monaco to increase their price tag.

With Declan Rice thought to be the main alternative to Tchouameni, the Frenchman is still expected to be cheaper than the West Ham midfielder, who has been valued above the £100m mark.

Any new midfield signing is unlikely to happen in January, though, and fans may have to wait until the summer to find out who Chelsea have decided to go after.
