Rising Dutch Star Attracting Big English Sides

The 20-year old has been making some waves in the continent in recent weeks as he ended the domestic campaign on a high with his club Vitesse Arnhem. It was believed that the likes of Chelsea were monitoring his progress over the course of the previous season and are weighing up a move for him in the summer.

Chelsea’s rivals Manchester United learned of their interest in the play maker and they made their own inquiries too. All eyes were set on him in the summer as he took part in the Holland national Under 21 team which competed in the Euros. He endured an impressive outing personally; however, he could not do much to prevent his country from falling at the semi-final hurdle against Italy.

United’s chief scout Jim Lawlor was spotted in the stands watching van Ginkel in action. The Red Devils have drawn up a list of potential signings for the summer and new manager David Moyes is keen to make a move on early in the Transfer window to reassure the United faithful of his intentions for next season, and also to convince them that there is perhaps life after Sir Alex Ferguson.

However, Daily Mail reports that United’s way is blocked by their fierce domestic rivals Chelsea. The Blues are equally keen on this bright young prospect and have already made headway in their efforts to snap him up soon. Chelsea are using their cordial relationship between van Ginkel’s club Vitesse Arnhem to broker this deal through, given the fact that they loaned out two of their young players Tomas Kalas and Patrick Van Aanholt to them last year itself.

Van Ginkel himself is undecided about his future as he spoke after Holland’s Euro loss and was asked about his future, to which he simply said, “My future? Now I have a vacation and I’ll concentrate on that. After my holiday, we will see. Maybe!”

“Manchester United, I didn’t know… I have two more years at Vitesse. It’s a club who’s growing, so I’m also happy there.”

This tussle between two of England’s biggest is certain to be entertaining throughout the summer.
