REPORT: Valencia Turn Down £62.3m Offer From Chelsea For Portuguese Playmaker

Valencia have rejected a €70m (£62.3m) proposal from Chelsea for Goncalo Guedes, according to the Plaza Deportiva.

The Spanish news outlet reports that the Blues made the offer through agent Jorge Mendes, but the bid was turned down by the La Liga side.

Guedes only joined Valencia from Paris Saint-Germain on a permanent basis for £36m last summer, but Mendes wanted to let the Spanish club know that there was a bid on the table if they wanted to sell up.

Chelsea’s transfer ban would, of course, have prevented the deal from going ahead, but the Blues have lodged an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

It’s likely that the London club are enquiring about the availability of players just in case their ban is overturned.

Guedes, though, has a release clause of €300m and has a contract until 2023 so even if Chelsea were interested, it’s unlikely they’ll continue their pursuit.
