REPORT: Tuchel Had Major Doubts About 51M Rated Bundesliga Star Who Chelsea Are Now Trying To Sign

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was “unsure” about Christopher Nkunku’s mentality to make it at the highest level when he was at PSG, according to Bild.

Tuchel managed the attacking midfielder for a year before allowing him to leave for RB Leipzig in 2019, but reports in recent days suggest he may have had a change of heart about the player.

The French media are suggesting that both Chelsea and Manchester City are now interested in signing Nkunku, who has started the season in excellent form for Leipzig.

The 23-year-old has scored nine goals and contributed three assists in just 10 appearances so far this campaign, and he looks like he could well fulfil his potential.

However, Bild claim that Nkunku won’t be sold on the cheap. The Bundesliga side expect to receive at least €60m (£51m) from the France Under 21 international’s sale.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea see the midfielder as a worthwhile addition for that price, considering they already have the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Mason Mount who can play in similar positions.
