Report Reveals Chelsea Have ‘Sounded Out’ 4 Cap France International Who Could Be Signed For 10M

Chelsea have “sounded out” Lens wingback Jonathan Clauss, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that the Frenchman, who has been capped four times by his country, could be available for as little as £10m this summer.

Clauss is also interesting other “Champions League clubs” and there have been reports in France that Marseille have had an opening bid rejected for the player.

The 29-year-old would probably be recruited as a backup option for Reece James on the right flank. The uncertainty over captain Cesar Azpilicueta’s future means the Blues are likely to be seeking reinforcements on that side of the pitch.

Clauss has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge on and off over the last twelve months and, while he wouldn’t be the most glamorous of signings, he would fit into Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-3 system, having played regularly for Lens as wingback since moving to the French club two years ago.
