REPORT: Club Already Have A ‘Plan To Replace’ 34.5M Rated Colombian Ace If He Joins Chelsea

Atalanta already have a “plan to replace” Duvan Zapata if he joins Chelsea, according to Goal Argentina.

The Colombian international has been linked with the Blues in recent days, although it must be pointed out that the rumours mentioning his potential switch to Stamford Bridge have not been substantiated by any credible source.

Goal do claim that Zapata would be sold if a club offers €40m (£34.5m) but it must be said that, even at that price, it would be hard to see Chelsea paying it considering the striker turns 30 next month.

The forward is certainly a prolific goalscorer, having bagged 61 goals for Atalanta over the past three seasons. Even so, you would have to think that manager Thomas Tuchel will be looking at younger alternatives.

Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland remains the number one target, reports suggest, but there will likely be other names on the club’s shortlist if they fail to land the Norwegian. Zapata is, though, unlikely to be among them.
