Report Claims Chelsea’s ‘Very Good Relationship’ With Agent Of 64.5M Rated Portuguese Star May Help Seal Transfer

Chelsea’s “very good relationship” with superagent Jorge Mendes could lead to them winning the race for Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa, according to Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto.

Todd Boehly is known to have met Mendes on several occasions to discuss transfers and it seems as if Costa is someone that has been mentioned.

Moretto reports that “first contacts” have been made regarding a potential summer deal for the Portuguese international, with the Blues keen on recruiting a new number one.

Edouard Mendy’s poor form and his refusal to sign a contract extension means the Senegalese international could leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. Despite his recent improvements, Kepa Arrizabalaga may also be sold if the right offer is tabled.

In terms of Costa’s situation, there is likely to be competition for his signature from Manchester United, who are seeking a possible replacement for David De Gea. Costa’s price tag could also be an issue, with the keeper having a €75m (£64.5m) release clause.
