REPORT: Chelsea To Consider Shock £25m Sale Of Talented Teenager

Chelsea may consider selling Callum Hudson-Odoi for £25m, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports that the Blues are closing in on the signing of Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, leaving the youngster further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

However, the major bone of contention is Hudson-Odoi’s contract situation. The 18-year-old currently has eighteen months left on his current deal and he is yet to sign a new one.

With foreign clubs such as Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Monaco monitoring the winger, the need to sell may become more pressing. Foreign clubs don’t have to pay significant compensation for young players out of contract, and Chelsea may feel selling in January is the best solution.

There are also considerations regarding UEFA Financial Fair Play if the Blues do sign Pulisic, and they may see the sale of Hudson-Odoi as a way of balancing the books.

Still, the sale of the teenager would be hugely controversial with many fans and pundits seeing him as one of the most talented players to come through the academy in recent years.
