REPORT: Chelsea Star Set To Sign New Long-Term Contract

Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell is set to sign a new deal with the club this week, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

Chilwell will remain at Chelsea until 2027, according to Romano. Additionally, he also mentioned that two clubs were interested in snapping up the former Leicester City full-back in the summer – however, Chilwell is reported to have never had any intentions of leaving Stamford Bridge.

In Romano’s tweet, he wrote: “Ben Chilwell will sign new long-term deal with Chelsea this week. It will be valid until June 2027.

“Two clubs were interested in Ben Chilwell as potential option for the summer but he only wanted to stay.”

Born in Milton Keynes, Chilwell is enjoying an impressive season at Chelsea so far. The 26-year-old has scored two goals in all competitions this campaign, alongside four assists.

He is locked in a constant battle for the first-team left-back position with former Brighton star Marc Cucurella – however, based on his performances this season, Chilwell seems to be by far the better option in that role.

On the international stage, it is a similar story. He is a great option at left-back for England – but so is Luke Shaw, who seems to be Gareth Southgate’s preferred choice at this moment in time.

With a new contract on the horizon, Chilwell will be looking to cement his place as Chelsea’s first-choice left-back – and perhaps England’s, too.
