REPORT: Chelsea Set To Announce Their Next Manager By Wednesday

Chelsea will name Frank Lampard as the club’s new manager in the next 48 hours, according to talkSPORT.

The radio station reports that the Blues legend has told Derby that he wants to leave Pride Park, with a compensation deal between the two clubs close to being finalised.

It is expected that Lampard will be joined at Stamford Bridge by Jody Morris, who is his assistant at the Rams.

The former Chelsea midfielder used to be the London club’s Under 18 coach, and his knowledge of the club’s academy will help Lampard in his judgement of youth players.

The Derby manager has been widely tipped to take over from Maurizio Sarri, following the Italian’s departure for Juventus earlier this month.

Lampard has just one year of managerial experience, but after guiding the Rams to the Championship playoff final in his first season in charge, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich believes the 41-year-old has what it takes to manage in the Premier League.
