REPORT: Chelsea Sent Scouts To Watch £70m Rated Playmaker In Action Last Night

Chelsea had scouts in attendance to watch Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in action against Celtic in the Europa League yesterday, according to TMW.

The Italian website reports that the Serbian international is on the Blues’ shortlist of targets, as manager Frank Lampard looks to strengthen his attacking midfield options.

Milinkovic-Savic was heavily linked with Manchester United in the summer as a replacement for Paul Pogba, with it being claimed that the Red Devils were prepared to pay €80m (£70m) for the midfielder.

Chelsea still have a transfer ban in place but reports in the English media this morning suggest that the club’s lawyers are confident that the embargo will be lifted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

FIFA have banned the London club from registering any new players for two transfer windows. If the ban does remain in place, though, the earliest they could sign Milinkovic-Savic would be in the summer.
