REPORT: Chelsea Reportedly In ‘Contact’ With Club Over Transfer Of International Superstar

Chelsea have allegedly ‘made contact’ with PSG to discuss a potential transfer for Brazilian sensation Neymar, according to a report from talkSPORT.

While an official offer is yet to be tabled by the Blues, both Neymar and PSG are reportedly ‘open’ to the idea of him moving to Stamford Bridge.

Neymar’s contract at PSG does not expire until the summer of 2025. As such, any club who wishes to bring him on board will likely have to pay a hefty fee. Currently, the amount PSG will require to let Neymar go is unspecified.

Should Neymar move to Chelsea, their squad would be even more over-saturated with wingers and attacking midfielders than it already is. While a move for the 31-year-old would certainly dominate the headlines and drive shirt sales, it may not make a lot of sense from a logistical and tactical point of view.

Who else, besides Chelsea, is interested in Neymar?

Though nothing concrete has surfaced as of yet, both Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with a transfer move for Neymar over the last few months [via the Metro].

With these two clubs both set to partake in the Champions League next season, the Brazilian superstar could favour a move to Manchester or North London over Chelsea.

The Neymar story so far

Neymar joined his first youth academy, Portuguesa Santista, at the age of seven in 1999. Four years later, he would join Santos – there, he began to attract attention from big hitters across the globe.

After scoring over 100 goals for Alvinegro Praiano, he joined Barcelona in 2013 under controversial circumstances. Nevertheless, he soon established himself as a superstar at the Nou Camp, scoring 68 goals in 123 games.

He moved to PSG in 2017 for a fee that, in total, came to just under £200 million. It made him the most expensive transfer of all time – a record that still stands today.

He has also been a prolific goalscorer on the international stage. So far, he has scored 77 goals for Brazil across 124 caps.
