REPORT: Chelsea Looking To Challenge Tottenham For 51M Rated Italian As They Eye Rudiger Replacement

Chelsea are likely to enter the race to sign Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni, according to Tuttosport (via TMW).

The Nerazzurri need to balance the books and, rather than offloading Lautaro Martinez, they have decided to cash in on Bastoni instead, with a price tag being set at €60m (£51m).

Tottenham are expected to be Chelsea’s main rivals for Bastoni’s signature, with Antonio Conte keen to be reunited with the Italian international, who he has worked with during his time as manager at Inter.

The Serie A side are reportedly keen to start an auction for the centre-back, and if both London clubs do firm up their interest in the player, it seems unlikely that Thomas Tuchel’s side would sign him for below the aforementioned asking price.

Bastoni is left-footed and does generally play on the left side of a back three so he would almost certainly be Antonio Rudiger’s replacement if he were to move to Stamford Bridge.
